One of the last great perks

The Department of Transportation has stepped in and told airlines that parents flying with children can no longer sleep, read or just plain old zone out on flights. Starting next year, airlines can no longer charge extra to sit next to your children.

Now that it’s free, disappointed parents everywhere are worried, they’ll no longer be able to use this great excuse to leave their kids in the company of unwitting strangers.

The DOT has warned airlines that they should take pains to make sure children can sit on flights next to accompanying adults for no extra charge.
